How much does a Chevy Caprice weigh?

The 1971-1976 models weighed in at roughly 4000-4300 pounds and the 1977-1979 models weighed approx. 3700 pounds. This info is based from wikipedia, and I am not positive of the accuracy, however there is another way to find out how much your car weighs. On the vin sticker on the door, you will see GVWR under that is a number usually around the 5000 pound range for caprices and impalas. Below this sticker, look for the vehicle weight capacity, on the 77-90 models coupes and sedans its usually 1100 pounds. Take your GVWR and minus the vehicle weight capacity, this will give you roughly 3900 pounds for the 77-90 models. The GVWR is the most weight your car can handle based on the axles which usually can handle around 2500 pounds per axle. If you minus the maximum load you can carry which is 1100 pounds, this will shoot you in the right direction. Every car is different but on average i would say the 77-90 models weigh in around 3700 to 4000 pounds.

I got my Olds Custom Cruiser down to right at about 4000lbs. I did take a lot of weight out of it and was able to find an uber rare aluminum hood and hinges that saved about 50lbs over the front end.

79 Caprice 4dr reference weights: shipping weight 1667 kg / 3675 lbs base curb weight: 1714 kg / 3779 lbs

79 Caprice Coupe reference weights: shipping weight 1655 kg / 3649 lbs base curb weight: 1701 kg / 3750 lbs

Only a difference of 26-29 lbs between 4 door and Coupe hmm.

If I can find it, I have a scale ticket from a CAT scale at a truckstop for my '79. With an iron head 350 and 4 speed manual and no air conditioning it scaled in at 3640lbs with half a tank of gas and no driver.

My 2 door weighed 3973lb with me (212lb) in it 1/4 tank gas (or less) and  AC delete  at scrap yard

Makes me wonder what my 78 weighs I am missing 2 headlight about 3 coils up front aluminum heads and intake and stainless headers. Stripped all carpet and firewall insulation as well as package tray and behind back seat. Now for added weight second battery in trunk 3 amps 2 50lb subs and some panels. I would guess I still tip scales around 4k. Wil lil check soon and post results.

I have scaled my 1979 Caprice on a farm scales that's certified. It came in at 3960# w/V8, 700R4 and 8.5 rear end.

I do have aluminum heads, water pump and intake. Along w/headers and dual exhaust. Bench seats yet.

Their not light. But a great road machine.
