I am assuming you don't have a station wagon. In that case, you are limited to a Caprice or Impala, 2 Dr. or 4 Dr., 1977, 1978 or 1979. (From 57th Hollander Exchange Manual.) If you are thinking about a salvage yard, be careful. It's best to find a yard close to you so that you can inspect the part before paying for it.

if you're in a northern climate, look for a bumper that doesn't have bumprettes or rub strips. those seem to be a magnet for rust (I've had 4 rear bumpers and all but one were rusted out because salt and water get in behind the rub strips and rust them from the inside out)
