I have a 78 Buick LeSabre Coupe. I plan to go the pro touring route with ls t56 swap, Speedtech suspension and Kore3 brakes. Right now I'm trying to find spindles. Will 70-81 F body spindles work on the b body?

Re: Spindle interchange
From what I gather the 2nd Gen GM F-Body guys used to use GM B-Body spindles as a modification to allow for the larger rotors. You may be better off sourcing GM B-Body spindles if you are looking for larger brake rotors than what the 2nd Gen GM F-Body originally came equipped.
I'd contact KORE3, as I did a few weeks ago myself, and they were extremely helpful as they don't specifically list the GM B-Body, in my case a '87 Caprice, on their site. Let them know what you are looking to do and go from there.
I know not directly answering your question, but that is what I came across in my brake upgrade research.

Re: Spindle interchange
My understanding on Spindle interchange is:
70-81 F body
74-77 A body (Monte carlo, grand prix)
77-90 B Body
The 77-96 B body with 12" spindle has been used as a swap for F bodies to get the 12" brakes. If you use a 88-90 1LE camaro rotor on the 12" B body spindle, you maintain the 5 x 4.75" bolt pattern.
I picked up a set of spindles from Classic Performance Parts that are cast to use a C5 corvette bearing and brakes. They're cast iron, stock geometry, just retooled to accept the corvette brakes. Link posted below:

Re: Spindle interchange
I know they used to do the same with A-bodies, switching over to B-body spindles and brakes, and control arms. People like our braking systems!

Re: Spindle interchange
Is it the brakes or the spindles? I've heard of guys doing tall spindle swaps on some cars just haven't found any specifics on it.

Re: Spindle interchange
I can't find any by me in the yards though they rarely get B bodies anymore. I may have to go for dropped spindles that's
all they seem to make now. I really want to swap my front brakes badly they burn going down steep inclines, these are the 11"
with the larger pads.

Re: Spindle interchange
gotta watch your wheels with drop spindles. a lot of Impala SS guys have trouble with the steering arm on the spindle hitting the inside of the wheel with 2" drop spindles. if I can find the link to the pics one guy had, i'll post it.
Kore3's GM Tall spindle kit will fit a B body spindle, you just have to watch, there's two versions based on wheel bolt circle and bearing type.

How did this kit work out for you? I'm looking to do the same.

I haven't gotten it on the car yet, I just got done doing bushings in the front end and need to clean up the steering gear before I put it all back together. They're decently built, and though they're cast iron, they're still a bit lighter than the stock spindles once assembled. If I ever post a build thread I'll put pics of them there.

Re: Spindle interchange
I haven't tried it yet. I'm doing research. I won't be running dropped spindles. Going to use Speedtech suspension which will give around 2 inches of drop.

Re: Spindle interchange
Hi Kit1078
Im thinking of buying the CPP F body spindles same as you. Have you had a chance to Install them? Im wondering if you came across any issues?
Thanks

Re: Spindle interchange
I've installed the CPP spindles. I can't post pictures for some reason, but they fit ok. A few notes: I didn't like the allen head socket screws they use to hold this wheel hub on, so I sourced some stock GM hub bolts from the junkyard. The calipers aren't actually 'corvette' calipers, they look more like knockoff. If I were to do it again, I'd just buy the bare spindle, and source the wheel hubs, rotors, calipers and brake pads. I didn't bother trying to weigh them compared to the original, but my arm scale says they're a little bit lighter. I can't say much for stopping power, I'm still dialing in the brakes. I did a manual brake conversion and I'm having some teething issues with that.
