Coil spring question
hey guys I have a 78 caprice wagon, I'm looking to lower it a bit. now I know the 90s SS impalas will lower a regular b body by 1 inch but my question is will it also lower my wagon 1 inch all the way around? any help will be appreciated. thanks!

Re: Coil spring question
It should work like you want, the only difference between wagon and the average B body is you have heavier springs
up front but I would imagine heights the same. Plus those later B bodies are a tad heavier than the older ones so
Spring rate probably wouldn't be a problem as I have those 94-96 SS springs and they are a LOT stiffer than the original 79s were .

Re: Coil spring question
oh ok perfect I think I'm gonna take that route for now I'm kind of on a budget. I'm looking for some stiffer springs because the old stock ones I have are too squishy and probably pretty worn out by now. eventually I want my car to sit like the old school 60s racecars. thanks so much for the info!

Re: Coil spring question
Springs are almost always sold in pairs. With a wagon you want those SS springs which are HD from GM originally.
Those Autozone springs should work for you and it's a good price!

Re: Coil spring question
perfect thank you guys for the information. yea I was shopping around the Autozone site and I found all 4 HD springs for $88 including that coupon they have right now for anything $100 or more you get 20% off so I plan on getting those as soon as I get paid which should be in the next couple days. I cant wait to get those springs on my wagon!

Re: Coil spring question
oh ok thanks for that man. yea like I said I'm on a budget so if its cheap I'm gonna take it for now until I can afford some good ones and ones that maybe will drop even more depending on how I like the look of the stock SS springs.

Re: Coil spring question
I don't know about Auto Zone springs either as far as quality. I bought the springs for mine from Rock Auto or Summit ns which .
But they were Moog replacements for the Impala SS from 94-96. Which looks like the same as the Auto Zone as far as style
although I think mine are 3/4" shorter like 16.25 vs 17" that Auto Zone lists.

Re: Coil spring question
do you by any chance have the part number? rockauto is always my go-to place for buying parts. however when I looked for the impala ss springs they didn't have any listed. which is why I resorted to autozone.

80098 or ACDELCO 45H0184 I think price is up on both, Amazon erroneously says the 80098 Moogs are F-150 springs with 18" height
they are not they are 13.56 " free and 11.27" loaded and will lower stock height by 1". Also they are very stiff with 640lb rate but they ride rather well I must say.

Re: Coil spring question
ok guys I finally got around to installing my impala SS springs. however, the new springs are thicker and the same height as my stock springs. should I cut them down? or leave them be?

Re: Coil spring question
You have to you the host image or if you have something like photo bucket post a link.
With host an image just direct it to the picture file and then grab the link it creates and copy paste
in your message. How old were your springs ? Maybe they are flat from age and you were lower than stock
with worn springs?

SS front springs
I just had the whole front end rebuilt. Including a 2.7 steering box. And the Jeep steering connection to the box.
The SS springs actually raised my front about 1 1/2 inches. Stiffer than stock and the same height.
I'm having the overloads put back on the rear to get that slight rake. Maybe an inch.
Always something you don't plan on.

Re: Coil spring question
Canuck Motorsports springs. put those on my 77 4 dr, about 1.5-2 inch drop. also your new springs might settle a little bit, so it may bring your ride height downa touch
