I find that kinda neat how you find the no A/C heater box a rare thing or option. I would say 60% or more of the 1977-79 B cars still around where I live were built this way. The heater box you see in that pic is from a 1985 Caprice that I got from the yard.
I still have my original 1978 no A/C heater box if you would like it or trade? The only thing is tho how do you ship something like this.
I will take pics and upload for you tonight.

Oh but you live in Canada right? That would make sense.

Yepp sure did. I grabbed the heater control panel and this newer style heater box has better features than my old original one.
Never made sence to me how the original heater blower motor would be on always when the ignition was in run or acc position??

You pulled the heater box out of a 85??
Do you know if that would work for my 77?
The blower is always on like you stated and doesn't work very well..[/quote
Hi there! It was either out of an 84, 85, 86 Caprice and from my understanding, yes a newer year heater box
assembly will fit your 77. The install is abit tight and requires partial lowering of the right side inner fender to clear. the only real reason I changed mine out is because my heater box to firewall seal was leaking.
I did read somewhere off some factory information and I recall reading that the coolant temp must be at a certian range before blower motor operation will commence. This kinda makes sence to me because I have two colant temp sensors on my engine, one for the overheat warning light and the other I assume for blower motor operation.
I do believe my blower motor coolant temp sensor is bad because when I had the original heater box setup the blower motor was always on regarless of how cold the engine was. Sorry if this dosent make any sence lol!

Yup, it's called "Astro Ventilation" or something like that. There's vents built into the package tray area to allow the air to flow through the passenger cabin and exit through the trunk.

Ecspecially when it 105 out and my heater is always blowing

Yeah, through the years I've had several people ask my why I have the heat on in the summer lol.
The 71-76s do it too.
