My 79 Caprice looks a lot like an unmarked FBI vehicle, and I thought it would be fun to have an oldschool blue light to slap on the roof, or maybe one of those that can hang from the rearview mirror ( I have seen them do that in moveis )
I am unsure of what these things are called in english, so it makes it hard for me to find one on ebay and such...

    Help?

Yeah, after some googling around it seems that revolving light, or emergency lights is what I am looking for.
Do you know of any sites that specialize in these kinds of retro lights?

Nah, no clue. Volunteer fire fighters use blue lights on their vehicles around here. Maybe check some fire fighter apparatus sites?

That's a plan that has some potential would love to see some pictures. One thing I find odd not to veer to far off

the subject is Caprices and Cops. Have you ever heard how many people get stopped driving Caprices all over?

I wouldn't put much into that except I got stopped twice in my car and I rarely get stopped before that I

had only been stopped once in 15 years and it was a speed trap. A Maybe some old school resentment for people driving

what they see as Old Police cars or is it a drug thing because of the Donk thing? Weird? Either way it won't stop me but

is this some deep seated bat $#^T crazy profiling?

Beats me why Caprice's get pulled over more.
I am not particularly into policecars and/or police as a concept, I have just always loved 77-90 Caprice/Impala and especially all the unmarked vehicles with black steel rims and dog dishes.
I recently came across a really nice unmolested 79 Caprice in really really good condition and it has a typical "unmarked vehicle" color. I´ll be sure to post pictures once I receive the oldschool rotation magnetic light I found on Ebay :-)

I noticed a late 70's bbody car awhile back online that was redone and had the police front push bars on their car. I thought it gave it a interesting look. It was a really basic push bar that looked almost like stock just extended a few more inches.

Here's an 80's one I found on google to give you an idea of the look:

Finding original push-bars would be awesome! Everything to complete the look. What features could I also add to get the FBI-clone look?
I guess the unmarked vehicles also must have had CB-radios. Would they have had a gunrack? conceiled emergency lights, like behind the front grille ?

I havent spent an awful lot of time searching, but so far, I have come up with something like this
    undercover cop car lights. Caprice%209C1_thumb_zpsjtqicmqu

the setup on this Dodge would be impossible to get approved in Denmark. Rules specify that any vehicle mus tnot have sharp edges, that can harm bicyclist, if hitting them with your car. These bars can really take down a person on a bycicle, huh :-)

"..if hitting them with your car." Are the Politiet know for regularly hitting bicyclist with their cars now? Razz

You're in Denmark?! I would definitely understand the no sharp parts idea then. During my travels while in my early 20's I spent about a month in Copenhagen cycling all around there myself, but no one seemingly TRIED to run me over. Laughing

Amazing Country, the best bakeries I've ever been to! Glad to see you are providing some B-Body love on your side of the ocean! *side note: The first and only time I ever drove a European car was to get from Denmark to Sweden.

Oh really! yeah, Copenhagen is the bicycle capitol of Europe. Altmost no hills anywere.
We are a few guys in Denmark who love B-body's. In denmark peope consider a Caprice a bit of a beater. Everybody has had one and they are almost always worn out and beat up. Me and a couple of good friends ( who live in Copenhagen, actually ) are some of the "leaders" when it comes to B-body's in DK.

Small country, about 5 mill inhabitants, and everybody knows everybody in this hobby.

My friend has a 78 Coupe in real nice condition that he put a 454 in and he is going to throw a 4-71 on it this fall.
I know of 3 Coupes in DK.

So what european car did you drive to Sweden? A bettle :-) no offense, dont know how old you are :-)

I was there in 2002, I'm now 35. It was an early 80's SAAB that looked like a beater but ran like a dream. My friends uncle used it mostly as a work car. It was a fun car to drive around and not stick out as an American tourist outside the larger cities.

She still lives in Copenhagen but her family is in Höganäs, SE. Hence the drive.

oh, we are about the same age, then.
Those olds SAAB's are considered vitnage by now...

btw I really dig the color combo of your car. The white B-pillar looks really great. Almost makes it look like a Monte Carlo. Sharp!
