my 77 caprice Empty my 77 caprice

    Post  brieon20 Mon Nov 30, 2015 12:57 pm

This is my 1977 caprice(currently not running) it has 406 sbc, th400,and Eaton posi with 3.73 gear..the car was originally came with a 305, th350, and 8.5 rearend.. Since I've had this car it seems like every time I get in the mood to fix it up something always gets in the way and causes it to sit. I thought about selling it numerous times but I just couldn't bring myself to....I told myself this is the last time I'm dumping money into it and if something goes wrong and causes it to sit this time  I'll just put it up for sale  maybe someone else can do something with it ..my plan now is to put in a new motor and do other  things like upgrade the front end, brakes, and get a new floor put in etc..then get it painted and redo the interior from the previous owner ..last add some nice wheels (I know big wheels aren't everyone's favorite but idc. what matters is that I like it and enjoy it .it's my hard earned money so I do what I want with it just like you guys do what you want with yours) honestly I think the build should take 3 years I go to college, work, and have a gf who wants a lot of attention Sad lol but hopefully everything works out this time Smile.. I'll be posting updates and pics whenever I do something something to the car.... Thanks for reading ......Also does anyone have a complete steering column they want to get rid of turn signal must work not worried about the keys being present or not thanks in advance..

Sounds like and looks like a great project and car . I have nothing against big wheels I just like some air between myself

and the ground more than a bicycle tire has anyway. Nothing quite has the look of a large wheeled B body hence their

popularity for large wheel swaps. What happen to your 406 motor anyhow?

Welcome to the Forum! Nice 2-door! That interior sure is wild. Replacing the floor won't be an easy task. Currently, there are no aftermarket pans made for these cars. You either have to patch or cut a non rusty floor out of a donor car. The good news is, you have a huge span of years both 2 and 4 door 77-96 b-body floor pans are virtually the same. Good luck with the project and keep us posted!

The 406 bottom end gave out and I was tired of dealing with the mechanic that someone I trusted recommended ...so now I'm saving for a blueprint engine I rather risk it with them than a local builder

Yea back in the day this interior was in style in my area lol but I don't to much like custom interior myself I prefer the factory look ..with the floors a body shop here in town said they could patch it for a fair price because the whole floor isn't bad just a hole in driver and passenger floor
