A question about parts fitment Empty A question about parts fitment

Hello guys I'm new here I need help form you guys who have more experience with old caprices and excuse my English Smile.

So I'm going to buy a old caprice and I'm confused between buying the 77-79 coupe which is rare where I live and I only found two of them (and one of these two have not been moved for a long time so I think I'm going to ask the owner if he's willing to sell it). or just buy the 1980-1990 and thats not hard to find here.

So the questions is if I buy the 77-79 coupe can I use parts from the 80's and 90's caprice on it?
or will I need find another 77-79 caprice to salvage parts from?

Hi and Welcome to the Forum!  The 77-79 is a different animal really.  There are quite a few differences.  It really just depends on what all the 77-79 might need.  Some parts from the 80-90 will work, but things like front header panel, rear tail light panel, fenders, doors, quarter panels, trunk lid and I believe the hood are all different with the 2-door cars.  You can use some interior parts, but not all of them will fit just right.  It really depends on some skill too.  I've seen people take one or the other and swap entire front ends on, etc...

so far as I'm aware, the suspension and chassis parts are interchangeable from 1977 all the way thru 1996. There are minor differences, like the size of bushings in the front control arms, and the transmission crossmember differs based on which year and transmission you have.

The body itself is the only issue things like body parts , glass (Obviously) and trim are parts that are different from the

    4 doors and later cars.
