Re: rear end swap
No. Shock and spring perches are different.
Here's what fits.

Re: rear end swap
ok,.....so last night I ended up buying my buddies parts car. it is a 1975 olds cutlass supreme. bucket seats with a console. 10 bolt rear end. this morning I measured the rear end and re-measured and measured again. it is the exact same. spring perches, controlling arm's mounts, shock mounts and width, all the same. it is exact!! thoughts??

You need a new tape measure?? LOL! JK.
That swap has been asked about many times before.
There's a thread on here somewhere explaining the differences.
The seats and console will look absolutely fantastic in your car.
The engine probably has close to 100 more horsepower than your current one too.
Check out B-bodys Caprice to get an idea of how good the consoles look in our cars.

Re: rear end swap
ok, today I find out if I need a new tape measure, lol. according to every thing I measured the rear end out of the 1975 cutlass should be a direct bolt in. I will let you guys know if it works.

Re: rear end swap
ok here is the deal,... I bought a 1975 olds cutlass supreme to get the rear end for my 1979 impala. I did all the measurements, and it looked like it would bolt right into my 1979 impala. I took my chances, I measured good and accurately and had the 1975 olds 10 bolt 8.5 rear end rebuilt. new posi, with 3.73 gears. painted it black and today was the day for the install. I took out the 7.5 rear end out of the impala and slid the new rebuilt 1975 olds rear end up underneath the car. jacked it up and it bolted right in no problems. the 1975 rear end is now in the car. I do have to shorten the drive shaft about an inch looks like. other than that it was a direct bolt in. any questions feel free to ask. it was easy to do!!

Re: rear end swap
Glad to hear that. I was never sure to tell someone something that I wasn't sure.
Way to go.
