    Window Channel Empty Window Channel

    Post  j_crossland Fri Dec 12, 2014 10:58 pm

Anybody know if there is a kit available to replace the window channel in my '79 Caprice coupe. Also looking for door sill plates. I'm guessing some other model like Monte Carlo would be the same. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jim

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum!

    Ebay has universal channel.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-1990-Chevrolet-Impala-Caprice-side-window-run-channel-weatherstrip-seal-/200754394452?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AChevrolet|Model%3ACaprice&hash=item2ebde4f554&vxp=mtr

I'm not aware of anybody making replacement "Body by Fisher" sill plates. You might get lucky and find a NOS pair on ebay.
Several aftermarket companies make generic replacements.

Thanks Randy, what other GM body styles interchange with the '79 Caprice. Maybe if I start searching for them I may get lucky. I'll try to up load some pictures of my project. '70 Caprice Landau, black, with LSA motor out of a new ZL1 Camaro.

What does "Could not upload file : exceeded user allowed storage. " mean.

There was a time when you could open a JC Whitney catalog and buy brand new already cut exact replacement window channel for 77-79 Caprice/Impala 2-door, but not anymore.  Supply and demand I guess.  I too will be looking to replace mine and will most likely go with the universal and cut it to fit. I did find a company somewhere in my searches that did have it for 80 and up 2-door and I thought about trying it out. I'll see if I can find that again.

That error you're getting is some kind of bug when using the attach file method.  I haven't figured that out yet, but it seems to do it to new members.  Try using the "host an image" button at the top of your post window (5th bank over-first icon).  Sweet's got a perfect how-to on that somewhere, but I couldn't find it.  By the way, welcome to the forum!!

You cant actually use that to upload anything, ive turned that feature off since it costs money for storage on the forum. If you want to upload pics, you can do that with the little picture icon at the top. Anything else would have to be from a third party suchas youtube, drop box, photobucket, etc. I dont know why it shows the upload feature at the bottom since its deactivated, wish it didnt.

    Pics links want a login/p-word.

I sure wish we could make a Sticky from this:

Here's what I find to be the easiest way to post pics. It's done with pics stored on your computer or tablet.

It's the same whether you're creating a new topic, or replying to one.

Step 1) Click the "Host an Image button".

    Window Channel 00210

This will open an "Upload your image" box.

Step 2) Click the "Browse" button.

    Window Channel 00310

This opens a window allowing you to navigate to the pics you want to post.

    Window Channel 00810

Select a pic and click "Open.  (The window will close)
The path to the pic will now be displayed to the left of the "Browse" button.

Step 3) Click the "Host it" button.

    Window Channel 00410

The info in the box will now change to the 3 display options.

    Window Channel 00510

Step 4a) Highlight the text in the desired format, either Thumbnail or Image, then copy it.
Step 4b) Click the "upload" button.  The box will revert back to the "Upload your image" view.

    Window Channel 00610

Step 5) Paste the text in the body of your post.

    Window Channel 00710

    That's it!  Very Happy
