Awhile back I bought the 1979 Caprice. It was sooooo cheap it didn't even have AC.
This spring I purchased an 8.5 from a Roadmaster at a salvage yard. Brought it home and proceeded to tear it down for redo.
I got all the new and used parts powder coated and brakes installed w/new drums and axles, along with 3.73 gears/posi..
Custom made brake lines from Inlinetube.com. Fit great.
So after all was bolted together, I took the rearend to a fellow to install. He has a lift and all tools necessary.
After cutting all the control arms off, and the remainder of bolts etc., he proceeded to install it, bleed the brakes etc..
It went well. Adding the rollbar that was there with the initial purchase. It sits up in the back because of overload springs.
Altogether it looks great. Handles much better on the road also.
Here are a few pictures.
